Is medical marijuana legal in Houston, Texas?

Yes, medical marijuana is legal in Houston, Texas if you have been diagnosed with a qualifying condition. Common qualifying conditions are PTSD, chronic pain, autism, epilepsy and other conditions. Request an appointment to get approved for medical marijuana in Houston, Texas.

 

Do I qualify for medical marijuana?

To qualify for low THC medical cannabis in Texas, you must be a permanent resident of the state of Texas verified by valid identification and have a qualifying condition. If you suffer from PTSD, Chronic Pain, Autism, Irreversible Neurologic Condition, Epilepsy, or any other qualifying condition, you can get approved for medical marijuana. Integrative Care 360 also requires that you have access to a private email address and that you can provide access to previous medical records.  The first step is to request an appointment with Integrative Care 360.

 

What will the prescription cover?

Texas Occupations Code §169.001 defines "medical use" as the ingestion by a means of administration other than smoking. Therefore, your prescription can cover tinctures, pills, lozenges, gummies and sprays of cannabis products at this time.

How long is a medical marijuana prescription valid?

Prescriptions are typically issued in 3-month intervals with required reassessment for renewal.

Will cannabis interfere with my other medications?

A comprehensive medication interction review is completed prior to initiating therapy.

 

Is this the same CBD that I can get from the store?

No. Upon being certified, you will have access to CBD/TCH products with (or without) the natural occurring terpenes that are not allowed to be sold in any stores in Texas. The products are recommended by the physician at the correct milligrams per body weight, and dispensaries will not allow pesticides or chemicals to be present in the medication.

 

Do you get a marijuana card?

Texas does not issue MMJ cards - it's by prescription only. Nevertheless, Integrative Care 360 can provide you with documentation for you to carry at your convenience.  Once you've completed your appointment with Integrative Care 360, you will be registered in The Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT). This is accessible by approved physicians, dispensaries, and law enforcement in Texas, providing proof of your participation in the program. Your medication will also be clearly labeled with your prescription information.

 

Is this a medical marijuana card service?

No. IC360 provides physician-guided medical cannabis consultation and oversight — not transactional certification.

Can I buy a gun if I take medical marijuana in Houston, Texas?

Texas DPS states that once a patient is in the CUP program you maintain your right to carry with a CHL (concealed handgun license) and to keep guns you already own. However, the application to purchase a new gun will ask you if you take cannabis and an affirmative answer will result in a rejected application.

 

Can patients grow cannabis at home?

No. Patients in Texas are not allowed to grow their own marijuana. In Texas, you must buy your low dose THC cannabis products from a licensed state dispensary under the recommendation of your physician that is certified with the Compassionate Use Program.

 

Can I share my cannabis?

No. Medical cannabis products are only available to licensed patients and are only legally obtained through a licensed state dispensary. If a patient is a minor or incapacitated, then a guardian or designated caretaker can pick up the medical marijuana from the dispensary for the patient.

 

Are there any side effects?

Side effects differ based on the user, but most side effects experienced, if any, are mild in nature. Possible side effects include but are not limited to increased heart rate, impaired concentration, slower reaction times, increased appetite and mild sedation. There may be some negative interactions with other medications or supplements so please be sure you mention all medications during your visit.
