What services does sexual health provide?

Dr. Turner offers a range of sexual health services to teens and adults, including:

Sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing

Diseases like syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, are spread through sexual contact. If you have multiple sexual partners, regular STD testing is essential. 

After a physical exam, a review of your health records, and a discussion of your lifestyle, Dr. Turner can make personalized testing recommendations. She can even teach you how to have safe sex to protect the well-being of yourself and others.

Family planning

Family planning emphasizes birth control or pregnancy preparation.

If you want to have children, Dr. Turner can make recommendations to prepare your body for pregnancy. For example, she might prescribe folic acid and recommend eating a more balanced diet. 

Conversely, if you don’t want kids at the moment, Dr. Turner can prescribe birth control. Depending on your aims and age, she might recommend oral contraceptives or an intrauterine device (IUD).

Pap smears

A Pap smear screens for cervical cancer. 

During the test, Dr. Turner collects a sample of cells from your cervix. She sends your sample to a nearby lab that analyzes it for cancerous or precancerous cells. 

Breast exams

During a breast exam, Dr. Turner feels your breasts for lumps, bumps, and other abnormal growths. She also examines both your underarms and nipples, looking for signs of cancer or other diseases.

Hormone therapy

Hormone therapy provides a safe and effective treatment for symptoms caused by menopause and low testosterone. Hormone therapy can restore your body to balance and help you feel your best.
